| 2.43.11 | University Requirements for the Baccalaureate Degree |
| 2.43.11.010 | Purpose |
| This statute codifies the minimum requirements for earning a bachelor's degree at Wayne State University. | |
| 2.43.11.020 | Degree Requirements |
| To earn a bachelor's degree at Wayne State University, a student must satisfy the following minimum requirements, plus any other requirements established for the degree for which a student is a candidate by the School/College, Department/Program. | |
| 2.43.11.030 | • Complete a minimum of 120 semester credit hours with a cumulative honor point average of 2.00 or higher for all Wayne State University coursework. |
| 2.43.11.040 | • Complete the University General Education requirements. |
| 2.43.11.050 | • Complete all school/college, department and program requirements. |
| 2.43.11.060 | • Complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours at Wayne State University. |
| 2.43.11.070 | Credit Limitations: |
| Credit by special examination may not be counted as residence credit, but such credit, if earned during a semester in which the student is registered for a regular course(s), will not be considered an interruption of residence. b. Not more than 32 semester hours earned through one or more of the following programs will apply towards graduation: taken by credit by College- Level Examination Program, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Credit by Special Examination, or other credit earned for a course in which the student has not been regularly enrolled in a University course. c. Not more than 16 credits by Special Examination may be earned in any one subject. d. Not more than 64 credits transferred from a two-year institution may be applied toward graduation. |

| 2.43.11.080 | Second Bachelor's Degree |
| A student who holds a bachelor's degree from any accredited institution may receive a second bachelor's degree from Wayne State University by satisfying the following minimum requirements: | |
| 2.43.11.090 | • Complete at least 30 semester hours at Wayne State University beyond the first bachelor's degree. |
| 2.43.11.100 | • Meet all College/School, department and program requirements for the second degree. |
| 2.43.11.110 | Concurrent Degrees |
| A student who wishes to simultaneously receive two different bachelor degrees from Wayne State University must satisfy the following minimum requirements: | |
| 2.43.11.120 | • Complete a minimum of 150 semester credit hours. |
| 2.43.11.130 | • Complete all University, College/School, department and program requirements for each degree. |
| 2.43.11.140 | Graduation Application |
| Degrees are not awarded automatically upon completion of scholastic requirements. To be considered a candidate for a degree, students must file an Application for Degree by the first day of classes for the term in which students expect to graduate. | |
| 2.43.11.150 | School/College Requirements |
| Schools/Colleges, Departments and programs may recommend degree requirements above and beyond those stated in this statute. The President or his/her designee is authorized to approve specific College, Department and program degree requirements. | |
| 2.43.11.160 | Degree Requirement Waivers |
| Students may petition to waive University, College/School, Departmental or program requirements. The President or his/her designee is authorized to establish procedures for considering petitions for waivers. | |

Colleges and schools may establish degree requirements above and beyond the minimum requirements after approval through normal University procedures as specified in College/School curriculum processes and in congruence with Executive Order 83-4, Approval of Educational Policies.
